How to Connect to Optimizely Configured Commerce Database Using Mission Control

Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have the following prerequisites in place:
- Access to Opti ID – You can obtain this from your Optimizely Customer Success Manager (CSM).
- Installed Azure Data Studio – This tool is required for database connectivity. If you haven’t installed it, download the installer and complete the setup. (Installer)
Step-by-Step Guide to Accessing the Optimizely Configured Commerce Database
Step 1: Navigate to Mission Control
Start by accessing the Optimizely Mission Control portal:
- Open your browser and visit Mission Control – https://mission-control.cloud.insitehq.net/customers
- You will be prompted to log in using your Opti ID.
Step 2: Select a Customer/Client
Once logged in:
- Choose the customer/client account you wish to connect to.
- This step ensures you target the correct environment within your Optimizely instance.
Step 3: Select the Database Instance
After selecting the customer:
- Navigate to their dashboard, where you will see an option to choose a specific instance.
- If only one environment is available (such as a sandbox), select it.
Step 4: Generate Database Credentials
To proceed:
- Click on the Actions button located on the left-hand side navigation panel.
- Choose the option to Generate Database Credentials.
- The system will take a couple of minutes to process your request.
- Once complete, you will receive the credentials in the following format:
- Server Name
- Database Name
- Username
- Password
Step 5: Connect via Azure Data Studio
With your credentials ready:
- Open Azure Data Studio.
- Enter the details obtained from Optimizely Mission Control.
- Ensure that the Authentication Type is set to SQL Login.
- Copy and paste the credentials carefully (avoid copying extra spaces by mistake).
Important Notes
- The credentials provided by Optimizely are read-only. You cannot execute INSERT, DELETE, or UPDATE statements.
- The SQL credentials are valid for only 30-60 minutes and expire automatically, even if the session remains active.
- If credentials expire, you must regenerate them following the abovementioned process.
