This technical article describes a custom role-permission management and authentication service developed as an alternative to Azure AD for implementation in the External-Client Portal. The solution addresses some of the limitations of conventional identity providers by implementing an extremely customizable security system for microservices-based, containerized backends, and serverless-function hybrid environments.
