Highlights of HCL Commerce v9.1.4 - new Google capabilities, Unica Discover integration, embedded CMS and DAM capabilities, and much more. Information on the complete set features will be available only once the version is released, but we are now providing a sneak peek into what HCL Commerce mentions as the next big release since the v9.1 release in June this year.

The Journey of v9.1.x

Since HCL acquired IBM WCS in June 2019, the big release came in June 2020 when they released v9.1. And since then, there have been regular releases, v9.1.1 (July 2020), v 9.1.2 (August 2020), v9.1.3 (October 2020), and now v9.1.4 in December 2020.

Three Main Areas of Focus

1. World-Class Experience
  • Developed and delivered Storefronts for B2B and B2C customers, Sapphire and Emerald, respectively.
  • Providing Headless Commerce experience through the fully Restful API driven stack.
  • Best-in-class customer experience with SPA and PWA
2. Optimized Merchandising
  • Search made it easier with the most relevant and specific search results for better conversion
  • Elasticsearch replaced SOLR
3.Cloud-Native Commerce
  • Providing the flexibility to deploy anywhere, be it on cloud or on-prem
  • The ability to accelerate the time to market

HCL Commerce v9.1.4 - New Features and Enhancements

In version v9.1.4, the above mentioned three areas would remain to be the prime focus. And so, V9.1.4 will have extended cloud-native capabilities, which gives the flexibility to run on the cloud, be it Azure or GCP, or on-prem. It is also very simple to deploy software using cloud-native technology. And business users can now create marketing campaigns or logs with zero technical intervention. This would be available to all HCL Commerce users, and for the non-HCL users, they can easily download it and can set this up on cloud or on-prem. With cloud-native, it is easy to take the HCL Commerce containers, solutions and to deploy them.

HCL Commerce V9.1.4 will have enhanced reporting capabilities that would help improve the customer experience. The two new Storefronts, Sapphire and Emerald, will have Google analytics pre-tagged, i.e., fully instrumental, OOTB tagging using a tag manager. And the users can either use the free version or the Google Analytics 360, which is the paid version. And through Google analytics, the business users can find a comprehensive set of reports, which includes the number of active users, current active pages, and so on. Even more interesting, Google Analytics will be integrated into the Management Center. And the Google Analytics tab in the Management Center will show any dashboard that has been built in the Management Center where the user can see the top-selling products (a few more). This would be available not only for those who use the new storefronts, but for any HCL commerce customers who use Google Analytics, and this will be based on the standards Google has for the e-commerce sites.

The upcoming version will also have HCL Discover providing improved insights into online customer experience, including session search, campaign management, and much more. This would be superior to the other web analytic tools, providing definite and complete client interaction and its impact on the business.
