HCL Commerce v9.1 – CoreNLP, New Gen Storefront, Elastic Search

What has been recently shared by HCL about the features of Commerce’s latest version - v9.1 is pretty close to our speculations. There have been multiple releases since July 2019, but the latest version is expected to bring in many expected updates.

On June 24, 2020, within a year after HCL acquired Commerce and a few other technologies from IBM, the latest version of Commerce will be unveiled. The new updates announced, focus on improving customer experience, offering better consumability, innovative storefront, multi-cloud readiness.

  • What HCL is offering in v9.1 is a new, next-generation Storefront. When we still don’t have a piece of complete knowledge about the specifications, this is a much-awaited update as we have been running on jQuery in versions v8 and v9.
  • It would have an enhanced search engine with elastic search replacing Solr, and new, improved features with CoreNLP.
  • The platform will be cloud-native and will run on a public and private cloud.
  • It will also have improved headless experiences across any device, making use of the fully Restful API driven stack.

What else? HCL has also announced a route map for the next two versions, v9.2 and v9.3, that is to be released in November 2020 and March 2021, respectively. HCL has also recently announced its support extension for v7, which was to reach the end of life on April 30, 2020.
