To move at the speed of business, you need analytical tools that can keep up the pace and grow with you.

For OMEGA Engineering, this was a challenge. With outdated stored procedures, the absence of an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) model, and an improper data dictionary, it was time to integrate to a new data visualization tool – one that could drive better business decisions through data insights and analysis.

Who is OMEGA Engineering?

OMEGA Engineering is a global leader in the technical marketplace, specializing in sensing, control and monitoring technologies. After more than five decades in the industry, OMEGA Engineering now has over 100,000 state-of-the-art products for measuring and controlling temperature, humidity, pressure, strain, force, flow, level, pH and conductivity.

Royal Cyber has been a trusted partner for OMEGA Engineering since they first implemented their global e-commerce site through the SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) platform. As the partnership grew, OMEGA Engineering trusted Royal Cyber with optimizing its data warehouse performance and analytical reporting through the use of Microsoft Power BI.

What Microsoft Power BI Does?

Microsoft Power BI pulls data from your business sources to create interactive and immersive data dashboards and reports. These insights effectively empower each member of your business to make informed decisions based on up-to-the-minute analytics.

For OMEGA Engineering, Power BI was the ideal solution.

Project Details

To optimize OMEGA Engineering’s data reporting process, Royal Cyber addressed the following action items:

  1. Designing a new ERD: creating a new model allowed OMEGA Engineering to understand the structure of the warehouse and the inter-relationships within the system scope.
  1. Implementing a data dictionary to centralize information about company data.
  2. Designing oversight reports for operational, sales and marketing analytics.
  3. Reinventing the data migration process.
  4. Creating optimized SSIS packages for Extraction, Tracking and Loading (ETL) processes.
  5. Reviewing and optimizing all stored procedures used for generating reports.
  6. Redesigning existing reports to be more creative and user-friendly.

Once the new data reporting process was implemented, Royal Cyber supported OMEGA Engineering with day-to-day technical support, eliminating any issues related to ETLs, data warehouse performance and reporting.

The results have transformed the way OMEGA Engineering operates. Today, OMEGA makes confident decisions and act quickly as they see shifts in their business insights.
